Two primary schools in the Belize District have received computers from a Belizean Entrepreneur. The donations to Ebenezer Primary School in Belize City and Hattieville Government School in the Belize District came from the Consortium for Belizean Development Incorporated. The gift includes computers, printers, software, and computer accessories valued at 20 thousand dollars. It came through the efforts of Douglas Griffith, a former student of Ebenezer Primary School, who is now a computer specialist in Southern California. We found out more today from teacher at Ebenezer Primary, Beverly Diaz.

Beverly Diaz: Teacher at Ebenezer Primary

“Hs has been a member of the church Ebenezer Methodist, his family has been with the church for years and they have come back to give a donation to us. It’s a very generous donation the time is wonderful because we were hoping for somebody to do this for us so that we can get our computer lab back in order. Because our computers weren’t working our roof was leaking and now we have that fixed up. We had put out requests before and asked people to help out and give donation to help us get out lab back in order and he took up the challenge. We are getting ten fully equipped computers with all components and everything, flat screen monitors and printers, everything and internet free for a year which will benefit the school for many years to come and we are going to make sure that we take very good care of them, t! eachers and student. Right now we also our printers and our co! piers se t up in there. And so we have a full station of our equipment set up in there and we are going to be having teachers come in and do different things with the children and so on and teach them how to use the various equipment and everything, we are very happy.”

Ebenezer Primary has an enrollment of over 240 children, all of whom will have access the computers. Douglas Griffith also personally rebuilt the computer center at Ebenezer. Hattieville Government School has also been a recipient of computers, printers and software. The Consortium adopted Hattieville Government School was adopted in 1997 and has given several donations to the school over the years.
